By NATASHA ANDERSON, US SENIOR NEWS REPORTER Published: 15:37, 28 April 2026 | Updated: 15:40, 28 April 2026 An Ohio preschool teacher has been fired after she appeared to express disappointment that President Donald Trump survived the latest attempt on his life. Corinne Baum, a teacher at BrightPath Bridgetown Child Care Center in Cincinnati, was ousted from her role at the school over a 20-second TikTok video that went viral. 'There's a few creators on here saying like Friday or yesterday could have been the day. And then I wake up to that news, but not THAT news,' she said in the now-deleted video.  Baum, after letting out a sigh, added: 'We're going to have to pay really close attention to what they're actually trying to distract us from.' BrightPath, in a statement to WXIX, confirmed that her employment was terminated and said the educational institution 'does not tolerate and explicitly condemns any calls for violence.' Her ousting comes as a high school social studies teacher in Wisconsin is being investigated over an X post in which he claimed he was 'not impressed' by the latest attempted assassination of Trump and said society needs to 'make Americans great assassins again.' 'I am not impressed with recent presidential assassins. It's f*****g embarrassing!' Kaukauna High School teacher Patrick Meyer tweeted Sunday morning, just hours after Cole Tomas Allen tried to storm the White House Correspondents' Association dinner with guns and knives. 'Booth, Guiteau, Czolgosz, Oswald must all be spinning in their graves! MAGAA (make Americans great assassins again)! Sad!' His post seemingly praised the successful assassinations of presidents Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley and John F. Kennedy. Early childhood teacher Corinne Baum, pictured, has been fired from her position at BrightPath Bridgetown Child Care Center in Cincinnati, Ohio after she appeared to express disappointment that President Donald Trump survived the latest attempt on his life Baum, in a 20-second TikTok video that has since gone viral, said: 'There's a few creators on here saying like Friday or yesterday could have been the day. And then I wake up to that news, but not THAT news' Kaukauna High School teacher Patrick Meyer has been suspended after he tweeted that he was 'not impressed' by the latest attempted assassination of Trump and said society needs to 'make Americans great assassins again' Baum was instructing students at BrightPath's Bridgetown Child Care Center on Sunday, but has since been fired. Specific details surrounding her ousting have not been made publicly available. The early childhood teacher is 'very distraught' after her firing and 'going through a difficult time right now,' a friend who answered Baum's phone told WXIX. The friend added that Baum declined to comment on the situation.  BrightPath's corporate office, in a statement to the news outlet, said: 'Our organization does not tolerate and explicitly condemns any calls for violence.  'The comments made online by this individual are deeply inconsistent with our values. The individual in question has been terminated.' The Kaukauna Area School District on Monday confirmed that Meyer had been placed on administrative leave as officials take additional action to review the matter. 'The Kaukauna Area School District is committed to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all students, families, and staff, and unequivocally rejects any conduct, expression, or behavior that may encourage, condone, or promote violence in any form,' Superintendent Mike Slowinski said in a statement. Current and former students have hailed Meyer, seen with his family, as 'a kind and dutiful teacher who values his students and fellow staff' Meyer's post seemingly praised the successful assassinations of presidents Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William McKinley and John F. Kennedy Meyer's comments sparked outrage across Kaukauna, about 25 miles northeast of Green Bay, with many community members, including US Rep Tony Wied, alleging the remark is inappropriate, especially coming from an educator The Kaukauna Area School District on Monday confirmed that Meyer had been placed on administrative leave as officials take additional action to review the matter 'The content of the employee's social media post was not related to the Kaukauna Area School District, and there has been no evidence of a risk to the safety of our students and schools.'  Meyer's comments sparked outrage across Kaukauna, about 25 miles northeast of Green Bay, with many community members alleging the remark is inappropriate, especially coming from an educator. 'His comment was, 'Make assassinations great again.' What does this teach our kids? 'If you disagree with someone, we should just kill them.' Right?' parent Jennifer Schaefer said at a school board meeting Monday night, WLUK reported. Another parent, Naomi Dvorachek, branded the comment as 'totally unacceptable' and called for Meyer to be fired. 'I don't care how good of a teacher that they thought he was or anybody here thinks he is. It's totally unacceptable to make that type of comment,' she said.  Congressman Tony Wied, who represents Wisconsin's 8th district, called out Meyer on Facebook, saying: 'This type of disgusting rhetoric has no place in our society and does not represent our values in #WI08. 'It is not the example that our teachers should be setting for Northeast Wisconsin students.' But Meyer's former students rushed to his defense, claiming they have 'nothing but good things to say about his teaching style.' Iris Bass, a senior at the high school, said: 'I'm not condoning the post made on X, but simply vouching for Patrick Meyer's character. Mr. Meyer is a kind and dutiful teacher who values his students and fellow staff.' Baum had been instructing students at BrightPath's Bridgetown Child Care Center on Sunday, but the school said she has now been fired She has made several TikToks criticizing the current political climate, including this one above where she commented on ICE operations in Ohio Cole Tomas Allen, 31, was charged with the attempted assassination of Trump in federal court on Monday. The dinner had barely begun Saturday night when officials say the 31-year-old teacher from Torrance, California tried to storm the cavernous ballroom holding hundreds of journalists and their guests. This prompted an exchange of gunfire with Secret Service agents who had been tasked with safeguarding the event.  Trump and Vice President JD Vance were hurried off the stage unharmed as guests ducked for cover underneath their tables.  Allen was injured during the attack but was not shot. A Secret Service officer was shot but was wearing a bullet-resistant vest and survived, officials say. The gunman carried with him a 12-gauge pump action shotgun he bought last year and a .38 caliber semi-automatic pistol he purchased in 2023, federal authorities said.  Prosecutors have not revealed a motive, but Allen called himself the 'Friendly Federal Assassin' in a chilling manifesto and made repeated references to the Republican president and his administration, without naming him directly.  Cole Thomas Allen, the 31-year-old man has been charged with attempting to assassinate Trump at the White House Correspondents' Dinner in Washington DC Vice President JD Vance was rushed off the stage before President Donald Trump after shots rang out at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on Saturday night President Donald Trump is escorted out by Secret Service agents after Allen stormed the Washington Hilton on Saturday night Authorities also alleged that the attack had been planned for at least several weeks. Allen was ordered to remain jailed pending additional court hearings, and faces up to life in prison if convicted of the assassination count alone. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt on Monday said the night was supposed to be one of joy but instead was 'hijacked by a crazed anti-Trump individual who traveled across the country to assassinate the president and as many administration officials as possible.'
