By CAITLIN POWELL - NEWS REPORTER and MAISY RAE Published: 04:40, 7 April 2026 | Updated: 04:44, 7 April 2026 A Sydney flight attendant was killed in a horrific roadside accident in Fiji after an out-of-control taxi veered off the road and struck her near an airport. Lucinta Evans, who worked for Virgin Australia, died in the early hours of March 28 in Martintar, a central suburb of Nadi, just days after celebrating her 28th birthday. Police said the ragedy unfolded just after 5am when a taxi driver, believed to be in his 30s, allegedly collided with another vehicle before losing control of his car, the Fiji Times reports. The taxi veered off course and slammed into Ms Evans as she stood on the roadside near the airport. She died at the scene. The driver is expected to be questioned by police as investigations continue. Police said driver negligence may have played a role in the fatal crash. In a funeral notice, Ms Evans' heartbroken family described her as being 'bold, open and full of life' and asked attendees to wear colourful clothing in a nod to her 'vibrant' personality. 'She was truly full of life, with a light and energy that touched everyone who knew her,' her sister, Gabriana Evans said. It comes as Virgin Australia's Fijian cabin crew posted a series of heartfelt tributes in her memory.  'As your Cabin Manager, I come back to the place where it all happened. I won’t be able to look after you anymore on our flights or anything about work,' cabin manager Lissy Hyde said. 'I ask you to look after us from above. Fly with us my girl, beat us to every destination so we know you’re there. You are loved, and we will continue to live life as bright and loud as you.' She added: 'Wish I was on this trip with her to keep her safe.' Another flight attendant said: 'She will be incredibly missed I’m thinking of our VA Fijian family so much! Losing crew is like losing family and I can’t imagine how you’re feeling but love you all so much.' A former Virgin Australia cabin crew member added: 'Beautiful tribute for an even more beautiful girl. She was the life of the party, main character baddie with the best personality and got along with anyone she crossed paths with! Gone way too soon beautiful Cinta, fly high.' Sorry we are not currently accepting comments on this article.
