Sydney grandfather beaten to death while on his morning walk: Man is charged with murder

The man died in hospital two days after the attack, leading police to charge a 45-year-old man with his murder. Emergency responders found the older man at around 4.40am on Saturday on Orchardleigh Street, Yennora, in Sydney's southwest. He was treated at the scene and taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition. Police believe the man was assaulted while on his regular morning walk. However, investigators were unable to speak to him. Police were informed on Monday the man had died, prompting them to arrest the 45-year-old man and charge him with murder and causing grievous bodily harm with intent to murder. He was also charged with common assault over an unrelated incident in Guildford earlier in the month. The man will appear before Parramatta Local Court on Tuesday.
