ALBAWABA - The Lebanese police shared the first image of influencer Georges Dib, commonly known as Dr Food, who was arrested by the police on Sunday morning.
According to Lebanese media, based on a directive from the Public Prosecutor's Office of Appeal in the North, the Halba Judicial Detachment arrested Dr Food at his home in the North.
The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division posted the image along with the statement, "As part of the ongoing follow-up by the Internal Security Forces to pursue and arrest those wanted by the judiciary. On 23-8-2026, a patrol from the Halba Judicial Detachment in the Judicial Police Unit arrested the person named:
J. D. (born in 1986, Lebanese), nicknamed 'Dr Food' against whom there were two arrest warrants and detention orders for the crime of drugs."

The statement continued, "This came after a month of investigations and surveillance, culminating in a court-ordered raid on his home in the Rahba neighborhood of Akkar."
"The necessary legal procedures were carried out against him, and he was handed over to the relevant authorities, as directed by the judiciary."
Why was Dr Food arrested by the police?
A security source told "Here Lebanon" that Georges Dib was taken to the judicial police station in Halba and is currently undergoing preliminary questioning. He will then be transferred to the Palace of Justice in Mount Lebanon to be handed over to the Mount Lebanon Public Prosecutor's Office for a retrial in the drug trafficking case for which he was sentenced in absentia to life imprisonment.

The arrest of "Dr Food" came hours after the conclusion of a party held by his ex-wife, Shrouq, to celebrate their divorce.
The judicial source announced that the Public Prosecutor's Office in the North was notified of "Dr Food's" presence at his home and ordered his immediate arrest in accordance with the in absentia sentence issued by the Mount Lebanon Criminal Court.
In the last couple of days, Dr Food and Shrouqsunshine have resurfaced after the latter announced her readiness to hold a special divorce party on August 22, a move that sparked widespread controversy online and prompted her husband to respond directly.
