Mum-of-five fighting for her life in coma after horror hit-and-run

A mum is in a coma after being hit while riding an electric scooter. The crash, in the western suburbs of Melbourne, Australia , happened shortly after midnight on Sunday, May 10. The mother-of-five is now in a coma . The driver of the small white sedan did not stop . Tania Kerr, in her 40s, was riding an e-scooter when she was hit by a small sedan at around 12.20am. Police shared a CCTV image of the car they are trying to track down. The woman’s partner spoke to reporters outside the Royal Melbourne Hospital and asked the driver to hand themselves in, an Australian news site reported. Police have not yet made any arrests. Tania sustained critical head and spinal injuries in the hit-and-run. "I’m very angry, very hurt, lost for words really," the woman’s partner, Kayla Grech, told reporters. "Especially to leave someone like that on the side of the road." Victoria Police Sergeant Emile Caggiati said the driver's behaviour was “deplorable”. Sergeant Caggiati also warned e-scooter riders to wear a helmet and have high-visibility and lights on at night. "It’s appalling really, any motorist that leaves the scene of a collision where someone needs assistance, that behaviour is just deplorable," Sergeant Caggiati said. "Once you’ve realised that you’ve done the wrong thing, just make contact with police and we’ll work through it," Sergeant Caggiati said at a press conference on Sunday.
