A migrant has plunged to his death from a mountain in Morocco as he attempted to paraglide into Ceuta.
Spanish officers said they saw a paraglider flying from the Benzú mountains, close to the Moroccan border.
The man reportedly lost control as he attempted to land near Ceuta’s northern border and fell into the sea, local Spanish news agency EFE reports.
Officers from the Civil Guard retrieved his body.
Warnings have arisen of another mass crossing attempt into Ceuta, less than two weeks after 60,000 migrants stormed the Spanish exclave in north Africa.
The Civil Guard said that migrants had made several attempts to reach Ceuta and Melilla, a Spanish territory 140 miles to the east, using paragliders.
In 2022, footage showed a paraglider from Morocco fly over the border into Melilla.
They landed near a road that runs along the border fence that spans eight miles and stands 33ft high.
In the 2022 case, officers were unable to locate the migrant.
Migrants are believed to have set a date this week to reinvade the Spanish territory from Morocco.
Lora Ries, the director of the border security and immigration centre at the Heritage Foundation warned the threat "absolutely needs to be a concern" for the UK.
"It absolutely needs to be a concern because it's been going on for years, not just in the UK but throughout Europe,” Ms Reis told GB News.
“They'll go to London, they'll go to other cities in Europe. And this mass migration will continue. It's an invasion.
“What happened in Ceuta late last week was shocking to the world. It was bad optics. It was a lot of people all at once."
