Vincent Saxon, 54, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates' Court on Thursday after the alleged offence, which happened on Saturday last week. Detectives previously said a man had approached a woman travelling alone on a Bakerloo line train between Waterloo and Lambeth North in central London around 11.40pm. They added he allegedly indecently exposed himself to the woman before pulling her to the floor and attempting to rape her in the carriage, though she resisted and escaped the train at Lambeth North before reporting the behaviour. The alleged attack happened during the latter stages of England's World Cup quarter-final clash with Norway. Saxon was remanded in police custody to appear at Inner London Crown Court on August 13. A British Transport Police spokesman previously said: 'Detectives have charged a man in connection to an incident on board a Bakerloo Line train on Saturday 11 July. 'Vincent Saxon, 54, of no fixed address, has been charged with Attempted Rape.
