Detectives believe the vehicle was used to carry Mr Sullivan after the Outlander was stolen from a Loughton address on June 3.
It was later abandoned in River Close in Waltham Cross. Anyone who spotted the car between June 3 and June 23 has been told to get in touch with officers.
The force is now urging individuals with information to get in touch with officers.
Since the murder investigation was launched, three people have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
All three were released on conditional bail, officers said.
Detective Chief Inspector Greg Wood, who is leading the investigation, said: "We believe Jack was taken and carried in a black Mitsubishi Outlander that was bearing the registration HY16 FZR – although this is not the vehicle’s true registration plate.

"We are determined to provide answers for them, and I would again encourage anyone with information on the Mitsubishi Outlander or the blue Louis Vuitton trainers to please come forward."
