Once inseparable, the footballing legend and his younger sibling, who carved his own reputation as a nightclub mogul on the entertainment circuit, became estranged for over 17 years.‌The pair didn't speak for nearly two decades before Wayne's daughter and then his nephew both married their partners last summer, forcing the two to rebuild their relationship. While his brother captained England and moved into punditry, becoming the face of BBC flagship Match of the Day, the 63-year-old became a household name in the nightlife world with venues in Spanish hotspots, Magaluf and, most notably, Ibiza.‌Despite two contrasting rises to prominence, Wayne, who is two years Gary's junior, has previously reiterated that there was never any ounce of jealousy. The 65-year-old went on to captain England during his playing career as well as spells with Leicester City, Everton, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur.‌There is no confirmation as to the timeframe or flashpoint why the rift between the Lineker brothers was sparked. However, it has been previously reported that it was in 2008 when Gary began seeing Danielle Bux, who he later married in 2009 before separating in 2016.Wayne said previously: "In my opinion, Danielle cost me my relationship with my brother. Sadly Gary is no longer a part of my life. They came to Ibiza in August 2008 and it was really awkward.
