By ADELAIDE LANG FOR AUSTRALIAN ASSOCIATED PRESS Published: 03:03, 14 August 2026 | Updated: 03:05, 14 August 2026 A former radio station staffer says he was 'starstruck' when he first met talkback titan Alan Jones at an event. He is one of six men who allege the veteran broadcaster kissed, groped or subjected them to sexual misconduct between 2003 and 2020 across Sydney and the NSW Southern Highlands. The 85-year-old has pleaded not guilty to 22 charges of indecent assault and sexual touching without consent. Alan Jones is fighting allegations he indecently assaulted or sexually touched six men. Eight of the charges relate to a former radio station employee, who was the second complainant to enter the witness box of Jones's marathon hearing in the NSW Local Court. He told the court he had been a longtime fan of Jones before meeting him at an event. 'I grew up as a talkback radio fan, so every morning it was routine to listen to Alan,' the former radio station staffer said on Friday. Alan Jones pictured arriving at Downing Centre Local Court for trial The two spoke about sports in a friendly casual conversation, which he later excitedly relayed to his family. 'It was a pretty big deal for us,' the former radio staffer said. He had aspired to work in radio for his whole life and was delighted, at 18 years old, to land a role at a radio station where Jones dominated the airwaves. 'It was a dream to work at that radio station and to be able to say I worked with Alan Jones,' the former radio station staffer said. 'It was about as good as it gets.' During her opening address, crown prosecutor Georgina Wright SC said the man would testify that Jones had called him 'darling' and asked him inappropriate questions about his genitals. He is expected to tell the court the longtime shock jock groped him while he was driving and kissed him without consent in the lifts at Jones's Circular Quay home and at the radio station. Jones is also accused of indecently assaulting the staffer under the table at a crowded event. Jones is fighting allegations he indecently assaulted or sexually touched six men The staffer is expected to tell the court he was worried his position in the media industry could be compromised if he overtly rejected Jones. But the former Wallabies coach's barrister Gabrielle Bashir SC accused the former radio employee of rewriting his history with the broadcaster. 'Rivalry, treachery, double dealing, money, hatred, desperation, opportunism and more are at the heart of this case,' Ms Bashir said during her opening address. The first complainant, an athlete who met Jones when he was about 14, spent six days giving evidence in which he described nine alleged indecent assaults by the former radio king. Jones has denied all of the allegations against him, which are said to have occurred during the latter part of his 35-year broadcasting career, when he had a stranglehold of Sydney's airwaves. He also broadcast to a national audience for years as a regular commentator on Nine’s Today show and as host of a political discussion show on Sky News.
