Harrison Ford momentarily shed his infamously grumpy persona to share a snack with the Cookie Monster, in a clip that has gone viral online.
The 84-year-old actor went on Sesame Street a couple of months ago, but the official Cookie Monster account belatedly shared a clip of his behind-the-scenes appearance.
In the video, Ford and the blue furball shared one of his pretty delicious-looking biscuits. The Monster then started to hum the Indiana Jones theme tune, which cracked Ford up before he joined in.
The clip has been viewed 1.5million times on X, after the Cookie Monster account posted it with the caption: ‘Me think me know this song.’
It has, unsurprisingly, been catnip for Indiana Jones fans, who were also buoyed this week by Ford’s announcement that he will be donning that fedora once again (albeit not on the big screen, but for a forthcoming Disney parks attraction based on the films).
The Cookie Monster moment was also shared to a Reddit thread for things that have made subscribers smile and fans were quick to point out their surprise that this wasn’t your garden-variety ‘grumpy’ Ford.
‘Cookie Monster can warm the coldest hearts. Nom nom nom,’ wrote @ni_hao_butches, while @AlreadyFifty commented: ‘This is genuinely one of the greatest things ever recorded.’

Over on X, @Loddedin agreed in a reply to the original tweet: ‘Harrison Ford breaking his grumpy old man character and just having fun is always so great.’
As that comment suggests, Ford has something of a reputation in his regular life appearances. For his 80th birthday the Guardian hailed him ‘a superb grumpy old man’ and said he had been an octogenarian in spirit for decades before he actually became one.
During a 2006 appearance on Conan O’Brien’s Late Night show, Ford was asked about this supposedly cantankerous image and deemed it ‘horse s***.’
The Star Wars actor has also been asked about armchair expert fans online who have floated the suggestion that he might have social anxiety.
During a 2023 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said: ‘That sounds like something a psychiatrist would say, not a casual observer. No. I don’t have a social anxiety disorder. I have an abhorrence of boring situations.’
In the same Q&A he went on to recall how he used to be ‘terrified’ of appearing on stage for theatre roles, adding: ‘My knees would shake so badly, you could see it from the back of the theatre. But that’s not social anxiety. That’s being unfamiliar with the territory.
‘I was able to talk myself through that and then enjoy the experience of being onstage and telling a story with collaborators.’
