While we all know that excessive screen time can take a toll on our eyes, the stress we put on our palms when we use a trackpad or a mouse often goes unnoticed until we find our hands hurting after a long day at work. And Logitech, a company that has been making ergonomic mice for years now, has come up with a new solution with the Signature Comfort Plus M850 L mouse – an in-built palm cushion. Like the name suggests, the Signature Comfort Plus line-up focuses on your comfort. The M850 L is the first Logitech mouse to get a palm cushion that should make it easier for you to use the mouse for longer periods at work or at home. Now this may sound nice on the surface, but at Rs 7,762, does it really add enough to justify the price tag? Let’s delve right into our full review here at India Today Tech.Using the Logitech Signature Comfort Plus M850 L When you first look at the M850 L, it will remind you of other Logitech mouses. It comes in two colours – Graphite and Off-white. We received the Graphite variant for the review. Logitech has focused on sustainability with the mouse. It is made with 49 to 77 per cent certified post-consumer recycled plastic – depending on colour – and comes in FSC-certified paper packaging. The Logitech Signature Comfort Plus M850 L has a palm cushion on the top. You get a familiar sculpted right-handed design, rubber grips, a scroll wheel on the top, but then you spot the palm cushion. But before we get to the cushion, let’s discuss the setup process. The Logitech Signature Comfort Plus M850 L runs on a AA battery, which you get in the box. While this means that you will need to buy batteries to keep the mouse running, the company claims that you can get up to 2 years on a single battery with the M850 L. While we cannot test this claim ourselves, it should give you a peace of mind. On the bottom of the mouse, you also get a power slide, and a button to pair devices. The Logitech M850 L can connect up to three devices, you can switch between devices by pressing this button – there are indicator lights that tell you which device is connected at any moment. I connected the mouse to my work laptop and my Oppo Pad 4, and the switching process was quite seamless. Coming back to the cushion. The cushion, which has the Logitech logo is placed on the upper edge of the top, where your palm rests naturally when you use the mouse. During my time with the mouse, I found that this cushion wasn’t too soft or firm, making it almost ideal. However, since it only sits at the top, the bottom half of your palm does not enjoy this added comfort. That is not to say that the mouse is uncomfortable in other areas. Rather, the ergonomic design comes in handy in everyday use. For someone like me who spends hours in front of a screen at work, and then more screentime at home to try out gadgets, this makes a difference. To customise these buttons, you need to use the Logi Plus app. At a time when AI is everywhere, Logitech is bringing AI features to your mouse too! You can use the app to set up shortcuts or access Logitech’s AI Prompt Builder to generate AI prompts with preset instructions. If you are someone who regularly uses AI tools, you may find this handy. Though do note that the Logitech Signature Comfort Plus M850 L only connects via Bluetooth for the consumer version. The Logi Bolt USB receiver is for businesses only. It also comes with 4,000 DPI only, unlike its sister mouse, the Logitech Master MX Master 3 that can go up to 8,000. For context, DPI or dots per inch measures how sensitive the mouse sensor is to physical movement. That is, how far your cursor travels for every inch you move it on your desk.
