German Firms Expand Morocco Investments Across Logistics, Pharma, Auto, and AI
Casablanca – German companies unveiled a new wave of investment plans for Morocco today during a Casablanca press conference hosted by the German Embassy and AHK Maroc, with projects spanning logistics, pharmaceuticals, automotive wiring, software, and artificial intelligence.
The announcements offered one of the clearest signs yet that German corporate interest in Morocco is expanding well beyond traditional manufacturing.
In logistics, DACHSER confirmed the expansion of its Tangier operations through a new large-scale site designed to strengthen supply chain services linked to the port and industrial ecosystem in the north. The move further reinforces Tangier’s role as a gateway for export-oriented industries serving both Europe and African markets.
Bayer, one of the long-established German groups in Morocco, announced the launch of a new production line at its Nouaceur facility. The added capacity is expected to deepen the company’s pharmaceutical footprint in Morocco while supporting regional supply needs, as the country continues to position itself as a healthcare and life sciences base.
LEONI’s announcement centered on employment. The automotive supplier said it plans to create 3,000 additional jobs in Morocco, tied to rising demand for wiring systems and cable solutions, particularly as electric mobility continues reshaping European supply chains. The decision further cements Morocco’s place in German automotive nearshoring strategies.
The most notable diversification came from Energie Noire, which announced new software and artificial intelligence hubs in Casablanca and Khouribga. The move takes the investment story beyond factory floors and logistics platforms, pointing instead to Morocco’s growing appeal for higher-value digital engineering and AI development work.

Taken together, the projects suggest Morocco may be entering a new phase of German nearshoring interest that now stretches from industrial production and logistics to software engineering and advanced technology talent pools.
That reading was reinforced by AHK Maroc Director General Katharina Felgenhauer, who said an ongoing study involving other German companies is currently underway to assess broader investment appetite and expansion plans in the country.
According to Felgenhauer, the results of that study will be presented at a separate upcoming press conference, raising the prospect that today’s announcements may represent only the first visible wave of a larger German investment push into Morocco.
Speaking at the event, German Ambassador Robert Dölger said the announcements reflect the depth of bilateral economic ties and Morocco’s growing attractiveness as a platform for German companies seeking proximity, skills, and regional reach.
If confirmed by the upcoming study, the Casablanca announcements may prove to be an early sign of a wider German nearshoring wave toward Morocco.
