A poll of 2,000 adults found 66% ranked moving home as the most stressful moment of their life so far – with 44% insisting they’re determined not to go through it again.‌Londoners were particularly likely to dread a house move, rating it as more stressful than starting a new job (54% versus 27%). And shifting belongings between properties was among the biggest pain points, with 39% saying they handled the move themselves rather than paying for professional help.‌View 3 ImagesMoving belongings from one house to another was considered the most stressful part(Image: Getty Images)‌Those who DIY’d their move typically made five trips between their old and new home, and 81% said they were left exhausted by the ordeal.The research was commissioned by temporary car insurance provider Tempcover, following the exit of major car clubs such as Zipcar. The company claims the shrinking availability of short-term vehicle access is making moves harder for some households.One in 10 respondents said they had ended up selling or giving away furniture because they couldn’t find a way to transport it.
