Açıklamada, "Gazze'ye insani yardım ulaştırmak amacıyla oluşturulan Küresel Sumud Filosu'na İsrail güçleri tarafından uluslararası sularda yapılan saldırı bir korsanlık eylemidir." ifadesi kullanıldı. İsrail'in Gazze'deki mazlumların yaşadığı insani felakete dikkat çekmeye çalışan Küresel Sumud Filosu'na saldırarak insani değerleri ve uluslararası hukuku hedef aldığı kaydedilen açıklamada, "İsrail'in bu saldırganlığı aynı zamanda uluslararası sularda seyrüsefer serbestisi ilkesini ihlal etmektedir. İsrail'in bu hukuk tanımaz eylemine karşı uluslararası toplumu ortak bir tutum takınmaya davet ediyoruz." değerlendirmesinde bulunuldu. Açıklamada, filoda yer alan Türk vatandaşlarının ve diğer yolcuların durumu konusunda ilgili diğer ülkelerle beraber gerekli tüm girişimlerin yapıldığı belirtildi. İsrail'in Gazze ablukasını kırma ve yaşamsal insani yardım ulaştırmayı amaçlayan Küresel Sumud Filosu 2026 Bahar Misyonu, 12 Nisan'da İspanya'nın Barselona kentinden denize açılmıştı. İtalya'nın Sicilya Adası'ndaki katılımlarla 60'dan fazla tekne 26 Nisan'da yeniden Akdeniz'e açılırken, 29 Nisan gece saatlerinde Girit Adası açıklarındaki uluslararası sularda İsrail ordusu yasa dışı müdahalede bulunarak aktivistleri taşıyan tekneleri ele geçirmeye başladı. Filo yetkililerinin verdiği bilgiye göre, teknelerde 39 farklı ülkeden aralarında Türklerin de olduğu 345 katılımcı bulunuyor. Filo yetkilileri onlarca gemisiyle irtibatın koptuğunu duyururken, aktivistlerin akıbetine ilişkin sağlıklı bilgi alınamıyor. İnsani yardım taşıyan Küresel Sumud Filosu'nun Eylül 2025'teki ilk girişiminde de İsrail ordusu Akdeniz'de uluslararası sularda yasa dışı müdahalede bulunarak aktivistleri ve tekneleri alıkoymuştu.
