AS FAR Climbs to Eighth in African Club Rankings, RS Berkane Holds Fourth
Rabat – AS FAR have moved up to eighth place in the latest African club rankings after securing a spot in the CAF Champions League final. The Moroccan side now has 41 points, marking a strong return to continental prominence.
At the top of the table, Mamelodi Sundowns lead with 68 points, boosted by their qualification for the Champions League final. Their tally could rise further if they win the title.
Al Ahly follow closely in second place with 66 points, while Esperance de Tunis sit third on 58 points.
RS Berkane remain in fourth position with 57 points, maintaining their status among Africa’s elite. Zamalek are fifth with 49 points, and Pyramids FC occupy sixth place with 48 points.
The ranking system is based on club performances in African competitions over the past five seasons.
Results are weighted to reflect recent success; points from the current season are multiplied by five, the previous season by four, then three, two, and one for the oldest campaign.

This method ensures consistency and rewards clubs that sustain strong results over time.
AS FAR’s rise comes after their semi‑final win over RS Berkane on Saturday. The Rabat club advanced with a 2‑1 aggregate score, winning the first leg 2‑0 before losing the return match 1‑0.
That result secured their place in the Champions League final, their first appearance at this stage since 1985.
The achievement shows AS FAR’s resurgence on the continental stage. After years of absence from the top tier of African football, their progress this season has restored their reputation as one of Morocco’s historic clubs.
Reaching the final also adds valuable ranking points, pushing them into the top ten and signaling their return among Africa’s strongest teams.
For RS Berkane, the semi‑final defeat was a setback, but their consistent performances in recent years keep them firmly in fourth place. Their record in the Confederation Cup and Champions League continues to sustain their ranking.
