A new UK price tag for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been confirmed and though not ideal, it’s still much cheaper than the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Back in May, Nintendo admitted it wasn’t immune to the ongoing memory shortages plaguing the rest of the games industry and said it would be raising the price of its Nintendo Switch 2 console.
While it announced new price tags for Japan, the US, Canada, and Europe, Nintendo never said how much the Switch 2 would cost in the UK, only saying that info would be ‘shared at a later date.’
That date is today as Nintendo has confirmed on social media that as of September 1, the Switch 2 will cost £429.99 in the UK, which is an increase of £24.
This info was shared via a very brief X post, which also confirmed a new Ireland price tag of €499,99, which is an increase of €30.
Such an increase was to be expected. When Nintendo said the US price tag was going up by $50 to $499.99, we estimated the price increase in the UK would be somewhere around £20 to £30.

Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa also publicly apologised for the Switch 2’s price increase and said that it ‘does not fully account for all cost increases,’ which suggests the console will be sold at a loss even with the higher price tag.
Even so, this £24 increase is far less than both Sony and Microsoft’s price hikes on their consoles. The PlayStation 5 went up by £90 in March, meaning even the cheaper digital model will set you back £519.99.
The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, meanwhile, have seen price hikes of more than £100, which Microsoft quietly admitted to earlier this month. Now, anyone who wants a new Xbox Series X must pay at least £619.99, which is unlikely to help Microsoft’s already dire console sales.
If you’ve yet to invest in a Switch 2 yourself, you now have less than two weeks to grab the console at its original £395.99 price tag. As a reminder, Nintendo is offering custom bundles via its website that let you add one digital game, a Switch Online membership, and a free accessory.
There is also a dedicated Pokémon Pokopia bundle which costs £429.99 on its own, meaning you’re getting a digital copy of the game for £34 instead of the usual £58.99.
No doubt Nintendo is hoping for a boost in Switch 2 sales ahead of Christmas since, according to leaked images, it plans to release a Legend Of Zelda themed version of the console.
While it’s meant to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the series, its release is expected to coincide with the Switch 2 remake of The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, which is scheduled to launch before the end of the year.
