Hockey was much more entertaining last night: Everyone is doing 3-2, which makes this easy on us. The Wild are up after a frothy 4-2 win in Dallas. The Bruins are still alive after a 2-1 overtime win in Buffalo. The Oilers are, too, after a 4-1 win over the Ducks, in which they scored three in the first period alone. In the NBA, we just had blowouts … including a surprise: Philadelphia extended its series with the Celtics, using a 113-97 win in Boston to narrow the deficit to 3-2. Joel Embiid was sublime. San Antonio became the second team to advance to the second round with a 114-95 win over the Trail Blazers. No one’s worried about Victor Wembanyama anymore. This team is a full go. In New York, the Knicks figured something out. After a tight early window in this series, they’ve won back-to-back games by 15-plus points to take a 3-2 lead over the Hawks. Maybe it was our report about Mike Brown being on the hot seat. More playoffs tonight, of course.
