ALBAWABA - X (formerly Twitter) was recently accused by a former Japanese television presenter of ruining Japan's reputation due to its automatic translation tool.

Former television presenter Kanon Aoki took to the same platform, stating that X's all-new translation tool is interpreting negative comments from a small percentage of Japanese society for users worldwide, further damaging the country's reputation.

She wrote, "Seeing X posts get automatically translated and shown to people around the world, and watching foreigners' impressions of Japanese people turn negative—it kinda bums me out a bit."

Aoki added, "I hate seeing those posts where a tiny fraction of Japanese people mock overseas stuff and end up pissing off people worldwide. It's frustrating how those low-class Japanese folks drag down the whole country's image."

This comes after the same platform saw a flood of posts from Japanese users criticizing and complaining about foreigners worldwide due to their recent behavior online and while visiting Japan.

In response to the ongoing controversy, an American social media X user wrote to a Japanese user discussing the matter via a post, "People like this are only here to spread propaganda. The US loves Japan, and we still believe Japanese people to be some of the most well-mannered and respectable people!"

This was a response to the Japanese person's post, which read, "Regarding the opinion that 'the collapse of the language barrier has ruined the Japanese reputation for politeness.'"

They added, "I think this is simply the story of someone who used to think that no matter what they said or mocked, the other person was just a coward who wouldn't talk back, but now that communication is possible, they suddenly start retorting, and that pisses them off."
