William and Harry's cousin celebrates marriage to childhood sweetheart in lavish Portugal ceremony

William and Harry's third cousin, Phoebe Knatchbull, marked her marriage to her childhood sweetheart Leopold Glover in a wild ceremony in Portugal this weekend.

The 30-year-old Mountbatten heiress quietly married her investment banker husband in London in February 2025, though this weekend saw the formal celebrations, opting for a far grander affair this time around at the ultra-exclusive Solar de Lavada venue, where wedding packages typically exceed £25,000.

Phoebe's connection to the royal brothers runs through the Mountbatten-Windsor lineage - she is a great-granddaughter of Louis Mountbatten, First Earl Mountbatten of Burma.

Neither William nor Harry is believed to have been present at the Portuguese festivities.

The bride looked radiant in a romantic white lace gown with a strapless sweetheart neckline and a corset-style bodice that gave way to a sweeping full skirt. A delicate belt drew in her waist, completing the fairy-tale silhouette.

Mr Leopold cut a sharp figure alongside his bride in a traditional black tuxedo paired with a crisp white shirt and dark sunglasses.

The outdoor ceremony was followed by an evening of live music and a spectacular fireworks display. One photograph captured the couple sharing a kiss with pyrotechnics illuminating the sky behind them - a fittingly dramatic backdrop for the occasion.

The first glimpse of the celebrations came courtesy of Phoebe's stepsister Daisy Knatchbull, the 33-year-old Savile Row fashion designer who founded the tailoring label bearing her surname. She posted photos from the weekend on Instagram with the caption: "In her Mrs G era."

Pheobe commented under the post: "Love you so much!"

Daisy served as bridesmaid, wearing a flowing blue gown complemented by a matching scarf at her neck. One playful image showed her being hoisted aloft by fellow members of the wedding party.

As the evening wore on, Phoebe traded her bridal gown for a dazzling white and silver sequinned mini dress, and was later photographed perched on a guest's shoulders on the dance floor.

The weekend's festivities also included a relaxed poolside gathering, where guests donned sailor hats and swimwear. Daisy's fiancé, Italian music executive Giovanni Damani, took charge of the turntables as DJ for the occasion.

Phoebe and her husband's romance stretches back to their school days, having reportedly first met as pupils at the £28,000-a-year Garden House School in Chelsea.

Mr Leopold proposed in New York's Central Park, presenting Phoebe with a sapphire trilogy ring.

Their first wedding took place last year at Kensington and Chelsea Register Office, a deliberately understated affair followed by a small celebration with close loved ones.

Phoebe was born to Wendy Leach and her biological father, Alexander Willis. She was raised from a young age by her stepfather Philip Knatchbull, the chief executive of Curzon Cinemas, who married her mother in 2002.

Philip is the grandson of the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, a lineage that has long maintained close ties to the Royal Family.

Despite these aristocratic connections, Phoebe has largely kept a low profile, building a career as a director at a global health communications agency based in New York.

At the time of the February 2025 nuptials, the Prince and Princess of Wales were reportedly on a family holiday in Mustique with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
