With the competition heating up, Formula 1 heads to Canada for the fifth round of the 2026 season – here’s everything you need to know about how to follow all of the weekend’s action. Last time out, McLaren took a decisive step forward in Miami to close the gap to Mercedes as their extensive upgrades helped Lando Norris claim victory in the Sprint. His team mate Oscar Piastri wasn’t far behind, and they followed winner Kimi Antonelli to bring home another double podium in Sunday’s race. Head to the RACE HUB or scroll down for more on how and when you can watch the action, along with the global start times for each session. Free Practice 1 will kick off proceedings on Friday, May 22, at 1230 local time, giving teams just one hour to refine their set-ups ahead of Sprint Qualifying, which will follow at 1630. The Sprint will take place at 1200 on Saturday, May 23, with Qualifying coming up next at 1600. Lastly, the 70-lap Grand Prix begins at 1600 on Sunday, May 24. Check out the image below to find all the global start times for Sunday’s race. You can enjoy coverage from every session live on F1 TV Pro (available in selected countries), which brings fans closer to the action via exclusive features like onboard cameras on all 22 of the drivers’ cars, and access to both Pre-Race and Post-Race Shows. F1 TV Pro can be streamed easily via Apple TV, Chromecast Generation 2 and above, Android TV, Google TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku. F1 TV Pro is free of ad breaks and available with commentary in six languages. Fans can also watch via F1 TV Premium, a premier service that invites fans to step into the heart of the action with the ability to watch races in 4K Ultra HD/HDR on up to six different devices, as well as a personalised Multiview feature available on select devices with 26 different feeds to choose from. Viewers can watch every F1 Grand Prix, F1 Sprint, Qualifying and practice session live in 4K Ultra HD/HDR at home, with F2, F3, F1 ACADEMY and Porsche Supercup sessions also available to watch live on the platform. Alternatively, live timing will be available on F1.com and the F1 app across every session during the Grand Prix weekend. The Canadian Grand Prix will be held at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, which is uniquely located on the man-made Notre Dame Island in the middle of the St Lawrence River. Originally used for the 1967 Expo 67 World's Fair and 1976 Montreal Summer Olympics, the island’s roads were converted into a race track, hosting its first Grand Prix in 1978 under the moniker Circuit Ile Notre-Dame. The venue has produced no shortage of drama in previous seasons, with George Russell taking Mercedes’ first victory of 2025 here as he edged out Max Verstappen and Antonelli. But perhaps an even bigger talking point was the late collision between McLaren team mates Norris and Piastri which brought their back-and-forth battle to a head. Conditions currently look temperate and cloudy in Montreal, with temperatures reaching the low twenties. However, the potential for light rain on Saturday and Sunday could add another challenging element for teams and drivers to tackle. Norris suffered a DNF last year after hitting the back of Piastri's carWhen can I watch F2 and F1 ACADEMY in Canada? After an eventful second round in Miami, F2 will continue in Canada with Free Practice starting at 1005 local time on Friday, May 22, before Qualifying at 1400. The Sprint Race is at 1410 on Saturday, May 23, followed by the Feature Race at 1205 on Sunday, May 24. Nikola Tsolov currently holds a slim one-point advantage in the Standings after winning the Miami Sprint Race, but a maiden Feature Race victory for Gabriele Minì propelled him to third place, level on points with Rafael Câmara. F1 ACADEMY will also get stuck into its second round as Audi driver Emma Felbermayr looks to extend her lead over Red Bull Racing’s Alisha Palmowski at the top of the standings. The 40-minute Free Practice session will begin at 0900 local time on Friday, May 22, and Qualifying will follow the F1 action at 1800. Due to confirmation that the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix would not be taking place in April, F1 ACADEMY has expanded the upcoming round in Canada to a three-race format. It will start with the Opening Race at 0945 on Saturday, May 23, followed by the Reverse Grid Race at 1805. Rounding out the series’ weekend is the 17-lap Feature Race, which is set to begin at 1045 on Sunday, May 24.
