Wayward war

War seems to be going wayward as Iranian gas facilities were once again targeted by Israel despite a firm commitment from President Trump to hold the fire for five days. Explosions were reported from several Iranian cities with civilians apparently being on the receiving end. This hints at a lack of coordination between the aggressor-duo, and the restlessness on the part of the Jewish state to escalate the conflict. Tel Aviv has claimed that weapon storage sites and air defence systems were among the 50 targets that were hit inside the Islamic Republic, including several IGRC units. Iran too has pounced several Israeli towns on the peripheries of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, as western media indulged in a guessing game on the magnitude of casualties. The fact that the interception module of the Zionist state is not in order, and missiles are making their way inside, is one of the biggest game-changing aspects of the conflict. Little was, however, heard from the Gulf States in the last two days as Iranians restrained from hitting back with a warning to retaliate, if need be. Diplomacy, nonetheless, was on a promising stride as several pockets of influence, including Pakistan, Turkiye and Egypt, were seen working for a thaw. Islamabad took the lead as it reached out to both Tehran and Washington offering its good offices for seeking some kind of a unanimous draft to halt the conflict. If gestures from President Masoud Pezeshkian and his American counterpart are any guess, Pakistan's vibes are making the right impact. The need of the hour is for the White House to prevail over Israel and let this madness come to an end. It is a noted phenomenon that Israel sits as a beneficiary if escalation goes around, plunging the world into a global trauma of warmongering, and pitching the Muslim states against each other. Last but not least, the tumultuous graph of bourses hint at a crisis of confidence, as politico-strategic obdurateness is pushing inflation and oil prices to a point of no return.
