just three of his 15 matches in charge. Still, whose younger brother Will Still was sacked by Watford’s Championship rivals Southampton earlier in the campaign, was at Vicarage Road for less than three months and was their third head coach of the campaign. The 35-year-old was Watford’s 22nd permanent head coach appointment, not including interims, since 2014. The club have developed a reputation for sacking and replacing coaches under its Pozzo family ownership. Watford FC have this morning parted company with Head Coach Ed Still. Still was appointed on a two-and-half-year contract on February 9 following the resignation of predecessor Javi Gracia, who had only arrived at the club that October to replace Paulo Pezzolano. With just three wins in charge under Still, Watford slipped five places in the Championship standings to finish the season in 16th. Saturday’s four-goal defeat at home to Coventry City was Still’s final game in charge and marked their sixth defeat in seven matches. The side finished the campaign 16 points from the top six and a promotion play-off place, and just 10 clear of the relegation zone. Watford will now seek to appoint their 15th permanent head coach since September 2019, when Spaniard Gracia departed Vicarage Road for the first time. Watford will now begin a search for their 15th head coach, not counting interim bosses, since September 2019 when Gracia left for the first time, and their 12th since the end of the 2020-21 season.
