Two Chinese robots have smashed Usain Bolt's 100-metre world record at the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing on Saturday.
Both humanoid machines completed the sprint at a blistering pace, faster than any human in history.
Blitz, a bipedal robot built by smartphone manufacturer Honor, crossed the line in just 9.32 seconds, hitting a top speed of 14.5 metres per second, according to Chinese state television.
A second robot, entered by team X-Humanoid from Beijing Innovation Centre of Humanoid Robotics, finished the distance in 9.39 seconds.
Both times eclipsed the 9.58-second mark Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt set at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009.
Blitz had previously beaten the men's world record for the half-marathon, covering roughly 21 kilometres in 50 minutes and 26 seconds.
