An urgent warning has been issued for parents to stop their children from swimming in a stretch of river in Swansea after multiple diarrhoea and vomiting reports. Councillor Matthew Bailey has issued an "urgent notice" calling for action to be taken after the number of reported incidents from people who have entered River Tawe in Clydach which has resulted in reports of sickness and, in some instances, children being taken to hospital. Cllr Bailey said the number of reports was "too much of a coincidence" and urged people to stay away from the water for the time being. Quite a few have come down with severe diarrhoea and vomiting. "Please do not allow your children to go into the river. "Natural Resources Wales has been notified as well as the local authority environmental department and the Welsh minister for environment. We will update you as soon as we know more." And speaking to WalesOnline Cllr Bailey added: "There's been some children who have been vomiting and with diarrhoea and a couple of children have been taken to hospital. "It is about spreading the message as soon as possible and stopping children from going in there to play. We don't want to stop them from going in there for good, and you can't blame them from going in there given the hot weather we've had, but the message, for now, is to stay clear. "It is too much of a coincidence the number of reports we have received." Natural Resources Wales and Swansea Council have been contacted for comment.
