Video of school principal sexually harassing student triggers anger in Egypt

ALBAWABA - Over the past few hours, many Egyptians have been angered by a video that went viral on social media, documenting a school principal in Giza sexually harassing a female student in his office.

Meanwhile, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior confirmed in a Facebook post on Monday that it had monitored the video, which "showed a school principal behaving inappropriately with a female student in his office." The ministry added that security forces had arrested the suspect.

Security forces formed a search team to identify the suspect and locate him, and they were able to track the suspect's attempt to flee to Sohag Governorate and arrest him in a short time.

He was then confronted with the evidence, the necessary legal procedures were taken against him, and he was referred to the Public Prosecution for further investigation.

The harassment video, which showed the school principal sitting next to a girl before harassing her, went viral on Sunday.

This sparked outrage, with many parents demanding an immediate investigation and accountability.

Egypt's Minister of Education, Mohammed Abdul Latif, affirmed that "such incidents are a blatant violation of educational and moral values." 

He stressed that "they will not be tolerated under any circumstances," directing that the school be managed by a committee within the ministry and that those responsible be referred to the legal department.
