teknolojilerinin algı yönetimi amacıyla kullanılmasını ifade eden "bilgi savaşı", gelişen teknolojiyle birlikte çoğunlukla sosyal medya üzerinden yapay zeka destekli sahte içeriklerle yürütülüyor. Bilgi savaşı, eskiden gazete ve televizyon gibi kitle iletişim araçları üzerinden yapılırken dijital çağda sosyal medya aracılığıyla, yapay zekayla oluşturulan sahte içeriklerle yeni boyutlara taşınıyor. Bu durum klasik propaganda yöntemlerini etkisiz hale getiriyor, gerçeğin bulanıklaşmasına ve kaynağın belirsizleşmesine yol açıyor. Bu anlamda sosyal medya, özellikle çatışma dönemlerinde savaşın "dijital cephesi" haline gelirken sahte içerikler, hakikat zeminini sarsıyor. Uzmanlara göre, "deepfake" ve diğer sahte içeriklerin hızla yaygınlaşmasındaki amaç, insanları tek bir yanlış hikayeye inandırmaktan ziyade hangi bilgilere güvenilebileceği konusunda genel belirsizlik yaratmak olabilir. Avustralya merkezli RMIT Üniversitesi Bilgi Sistemleri ve İş Analitiği Bölümü'nden Öğretim Görevlisi Shahriar Kaisar, AA muhabirine, sosyal medya platformlarının çatışma dönemlerinde kamuoyunun algısını şekillendirmede önemli rol oynadıklarını belirterek, birçok kişinin bu ağları alternatif haber kaynağı olarak takip ettiğini söyledi. Bu platformlarda yanlış bilginin çok hızlı şekilde yayılabildiği konusunda uyarıda bulunan Kaisar, bu durumun gerçeği yansıtmayan bazı bakış açılarının "baskın görünmesine" neden olabileceğini dile getirdi. Kaisar, "Algoritmalar, genellikle kullanıcı etkileşimini en üst düzeye çıkarmak üzere tasarlandığından belirli anlatıları diğerlerine göre daha fazla öne çıkarabilir. Bu da duygusal açıdan güçlü, kutuplaştırıcı veya görsel olarak çarpıcı içeriklerin öne çıkarılma olasılığının daha yüksek olduğu anlamına gelir." dedi. Kaisar, sosyal medyada yapay zeka ve "deepfake" gibi dijital araçlarla son derece gerçekçi ancak sahte ses ve video üreterek "propaganda içeriklerini" hedefe uygun hale getirmenin mümkün olduğuna dikkati çekti. Çatışma dönemlerinde birçok hükümetin sosyal medya platformları aracılığıyla kamuoyundaki algıyı şekillendirmeye ve kontrol etmeye çalıştığını belirten Kaisar, hükümetlerin kendi anlatılarını yayarak hem ulusal hem de uluslararası kamuoyunun durumu nasıl algıladığını etkilemeye çalıştıklarını söyledi. Kaisar, yapay zekayla üretilen "deepfake" videoların bu etkiyi daha da belirgin hale getirebileceğine işaret ederek şunları kaydetti: "Bu araçlar, son derece gerçekçi görünen içerikler üretmek ve bunları topluluk içinde hızla yaymak için kötüye kullanılabilir, bu da sıradan kullanıcıların doğru ile yanlışı ayırt etmesini zorlaştırır. Her hükümet, bu tür araçları aynı şekilde kullanmasa da bunlar giderek daha geniş kapsamlı bir bilgi savaşının parçası haline geliyor." Kaisar, bilgi savaşının özellikle hız, ölçek ve teknoloji açısından son 25 yılda önemli ölçüde değiştiğine dikkati çekerek "2000'lerin başında en etkili kampanyalar, televizyon, gazete, basit internet siteleri ve e-postalar aracılığıyla yayılıyordu ancak bugün sosyal medya platformları, mesajlaşma uygulamaları ve yayın hizmetleri, bilgilerin neredeyse anında dünya çapında dolaşmasına olanak tanıyor ve algoritmik akışlar, çoğu zaman doğru olmaktan çok sansasyonel veya kutuplaştırıcı içerikleri öne çıkarıyor." şeklinde konuştu. Çok daha geniş bir aktör yelpazesinin "işin içinde" olduğunu söyleyen Kaisar, çevrim içi topluluklar ve içerik üreticilerini örnek gösterdi. Kaisar, gelecek 10 yılda bilgi savaşının geleneksel askeri harekatların önemli bir parçası haline gelebileceğine işaret ederek "Deepfake ve diğer sahte içerikler o kadar yaygın hale gelebilir ki buradaki amaç, insanları tek bir yanlış hikayeye inandırmaktan ziyade hangi bilgilere güvenilebileceği konusunda genel bir belirsizlik yaratmak olabilir." dedi.
