US should comply with bilateral memo in practice — Iran’s national security council

RABAT, August 24. /TASS/. The Iranian government is viewing US promises with skepticism, so Washington needs to prove that it is genuinely fulfilling its obligations under the bilateral memorandum of understanding, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei said. "Iran has no trust in the United States," Rezaei said during a meeting with Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Gen. Asim Munir in Tehran, adding that Washington "should change its policy and take practical measures to implement provisions of the memorandum of understanding." The SNN news agency reported that during the meeting, Rezaei pointed to the "paramount importance of Iran in ensuring security in the Strait of Hormuz." Earlier in the day, Munir met with Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf. After the talks, the Pakistani general assured that Islamabad will continue its mediation effort in the dialogue between the US and the Islamic Republic "with the goal of implementing the memorandum of understanding and achieving a genuine resolution to regional tensions.".
