US delegation in Pakistan for Iran talks eclipsed by mutual mistrust

U.S. Vice President JD Vance arrived in Pakistan’s capital on Saturday for high-stakes talks with Iran, as officials warned the negotiations could determine whether weeks of conflict in the Middle East come to a lasting end despite lingering distrust between the sides. An Iranian delegation led by parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf is also in the city, having arrived overnight at an air base near the capital and disembarked to embrace Pakistan's powerful army chief Asim Munir.
