Jenn Mason, the owner of the 'women-owned' WinkWink Boutique, was accused of hosting a sexual education program for children ages nine to 12 years old and another for ages 13 to 17 years old. Mason, whose boutique sells items such as sex toys, candy for oral sex, and 'books for love and lust,' was elected to the position of school board director in November 2017, Fox News reported. She was re-elected to the position in 2021, as Bellingham High School was seen hosting a drag show Pride event with Whatcom Youth Pride Coalition in a video circulating on social media. The footage posted on X saw young children in masks and other dress-up items watching drag queens perform in the school, which was decorated with pride flags. The video saw outraged reactions online, as one user wrote: 'This is not ok. Why have so many parents lost their minds?' 'If you're a mom who brought your 5 year old to this show... WHAT THE HELL IS THE MATTER WITH YOU,' another fumed. 'Horrible. This is beyond inappropriate for any school anywhere. Shameful. Maybe law enforcement should get a warrant and take a look on the school organizers computers,' a third said. Is this what you want to happen in front of your children? The people in power in our state want this to happen in front of children, evil has invaded our Washington state.' 'This is horrific. What sane parent would support this,' another user asked. The board director of Bellingham Public Schools was found to be running what was called 'Uncringe Academy,' which aims to educate young people about gender, sexual identity, puberty, the 'paths to parenthood: the many ways to have a baby,' and 'defining sex and sexuality,' as well as other topics. The events, according to the description, said: 'There's a lot to learn when it comes to bodies, puberty, sex, gender, and relationships.' 'That's why WinkWink created "Uncringe Academy": honest, supportive, and inclusive sex education classes to help young people and their families understand this important part of their life.' The events are open for parents to attend and consist of four and a half hour classes for the children which focus on 'empowerment and information, rather than shame, fear and judgement.' 'We use an accepting, informing, and affirming framework. Our focus is helping young people to feel comfortable around these topics so that they can advocate for their own bodies, health, and well-being,' the event description added. In a statement to the outlet, Mason said: 'Uncringe Academy is a voluntary sex education program created in response to requests from parents. Mason owns the WinkWink Boutique in Bellingham, Washington 'The program covers standard sex education topics — including puberty, relationships, consent, and safer sex — with lessons adjusted to be developmentally appropriate for each age group. Parents are always welcome to attend alongside their kids.' Mason previously hosted a Queer Youth open mic night for 'all queer youth' up to 18 years old. The event sought to allow youth to share poetry, music, or stories,' Fox News reported. She told Seattle Red that sexual education was 'highly personal,' and she understood that 'families may choose different paths for addressing it with their kids.' 'Uncringe Academy was developed at the request of parents looking for a community-based youth sex education program. The program is held in a separate event space,' she continued. 'It’s entirely optional and parents are welcome to stay and learn alongside their kids. Since 2022, we’ve had nearly 400 participants, including many homeschool families, young people who struggle in school-based environments, and families simply looking for more education around this important topic.'
