Researchers at Councilclaims.co.uk analysed 237 UK towns and cities to find where roadworks are causing the most disruption for drivers. The study looked at roadworks per square mile of road and the average duration of works, while also considering the number of active and planned roadworks and roadworks per 100,000 residents for added context. Topping the list as the UK’s worst area for roadworks disruption was Tipton, with the West Midlands town recording 84 active or planned roadworks. It also had the highest roadworks density in the entire study, with 26.25 works per square mile of road.
