A Beagle named Milo is among Britain's loneliest dogs - because his 'old grey face' deters prospective owners from taking him in. The forlorn-looking hound has spent more than 850 days at an animal shelter following his abandonment by his former owner when he was a puppy. Volunteers say he frequently gets "over looked" because his grey muzzle makes him appear far older than his five years. Milo was moved to Dogs Trust Evesham, Worcs., in 2023 aged just two years old but despite numerous people viewing him, he has yet to secure his forever home. Shelter manager Chris Slight says his "hang dog" expression has discouraged several prospective new owners. He said: "Milo is such a lovely boy, and while he hasn't had much interest yet, we know the right home is out there for him. "Although he's only five years old, he is quite grey around the face, which can make him appear older and sadly means he may be overlooked." When Milo initially arrived at the charity, he was protective over food and toys but he has made tremendous strides through resource guarding training. His former owner had found it difficult to care for him so handed him over to the Dog's Trust to locate a new home. Chris added: "He has made fantastic progress with his training. "He will still need owners who understand his needs and are committed to continuing his management and training, including providing him with his own room while eating, where he can feel secure and continue building on this progress. "He currently has quite sore hips and takes medication to keep comfortable. "He previously struggled with being left home alone, so he's looking for a family who can be around most of the time initially while he settles in. "Despite all of this, he is an incredibly special dog with so much love to give, and we know that with the right people behind him, he will make a perfect addition to a family. "Milo is such a character, and brings so much joy to everyone he meets. "With the right active home and a little patience, he'll make a wonderfully loyal and fun companion. "He's been in our care for far too long now, and the team are really hoping he meets the right adopters soon."
