Article continues below ADVERTISEMENTThe Scrap Box, in York, has managed the batter the competition and take the top spot in the competitive race to be crowned the best in the UK. The frying champion is located in a former public toilet block on the side of the A1079. A cod and chips at The Scrap Box costs £12.95.The York-based winner is one of four fish and chip shops based in Yorkshire from the list of 10 finalists, Scotland has also managed two entries and London only has one.Fish and chips is a national takeaway institution and the Daily Express has launched our Save Our Fish and Chips campaign to back the great British meal.
