Manchester Airport is rolling out 12 brand-new routes this summer, giving holidaymakers from the north a mix of destinations to enjoy.

Travellers can now look forward to long-haul flights to Algiers and Lahore, alongside a fresh batch of Mediterranean beach spots that haven't been served from Manchester before.

While perennial favourites like Mallorca and Tenerife continue flying year-round, the airport is adding some exciting alternatives for those who want to explore somewhere different.

From an Italian coastal gem to a Greek architectural treasure and Pakistan's largest northern city, there is plenty to tempt sun-seekers this season.

Mallorca, Balearic Islands, Spain

The Algerian capital will be connected to Manchester from June 14, with Air Algerie operating the new service. Return fares start from £263.43 per person.

Pakistan International Airlines is also expanding its Manchester presence after successfully launching flights to Islamabad. The carrier will add Lahore as its second destination from the airport, with services beginning on July 3.

Lahore, in northern Pakistan, ia a significant addition to the long-haul network. Passengers can book return tickets from £881.23 per person. Both routes open up destinations that haven't previously had direct connections from the North.

The short-haul additions are equally impressive, with easyJet, Jet2.com and Ryanair all adding new services.

TRAVEL INSPIRATION

Budget airline easyJet is launching flights to Bari in southern Italy from July 3, a city boasting the country's longest seafront promenade. The budget carrier also started serving Montpellier in late March and will begin Preveza flights on June 24, offering a gateway to the stunning island of Lefkada.

Jet2.com has announced services to Jerez de la Frontera, La Palma, Palermo, Pula and Samos, all now operating. The Spanish destination is famous as the birthplace of sherry and flamenco. Ryanair rounds things off with Castellon launching on June 1 and Rimini from June 3.

Chief commercial officer at Manchester Airport, Stephen Turner, said: "We know people are just as keen as ever to enjoy a holiday abroad this summer and while places like Mallorca, Alicante and Faro are always in demand, we know many travellers want to explore somewhere new, even if they're travelling to a country that they've visited many times before.

“That’s where we step in with a huge range of destinations unmatched by any other airport in the North, offering plenty of choice. When we say we connect people to places no one else in the North does, we don’t just mean global cities like New York or Beijing – we mean sun, sea and sand destinations too.

“That’s why we’re so excited to see a dozen new routes coming on board this summer, several of which will connect Manchester to destinations unserved by any other Northern airport. We’re sure these destinations will prove popular with passengers, and we’re grateful to our airlines for their ongoing commitment to offer passengers flying from Manchester unrivalled choice.”
