Rabat – The International University of Rabat (UIR), in partnership with the US Embassy in Morocco, will host the UIR-US Embassy Career Day today.

The event is part of celebrations marking 250 years of diplomatic relations between Morocco and the US.

The Career Day will connect students with professionals, international companies, and academic institutions.

The goal is to give youth direct access to global career opportunities and help them understand the skills needed in a job market shaped by technology and innovation.

Organized with UIR’s colleges and partners, the program includes panel discussions, workshops, and networking sessions.

Topics will cover business, technology, engineering, and public affairs, offering practical insights into different career paths.

The format is designed to encourage interaction. Students will engage in open discussions and hands‑on sessions on employability, leadership, and emerging industries.

The initiative aims to prepare them for the challenges of a fast‑changing global economy.

Strengthening strategic partnerships

Beyond its focus on students, the Career Day reflects ongoing cooperation between UIR and the US Embassy. It shows efforts to strengthen international partnerships and promote academic collaboration.

Muhammad Shahbaz, Cultural Attaché at the US Embassy in Rabat, underlined in a press statement the importance of American companies in Morocco’s economy, pointing to their role in driving innovation and trade.

Shahbaz said that partnerships with institutions like UIR help students gain the skills needed to benefit from new technologies and professional opportunities.

UIR has built strong ties with several US universities, including Mississippi State University, UCLA, and the University of Connecticut.

These collaborations focus on academic exchange, joint research, and student mobility, further strengthening the already strong ties between Morocco and the US.

The Career Day also forms part of the wider commemoration of the 250th anniversary of US independence and Morocco’s early recognition of the US.

In December 1777, Morocco became the first country to officially recognize the US, a milestone often cited as the foundation of the long-standing diplomatic relationship between the two countries.

The event also reflects a shared commitment to education, innovation, and youth development.

Through this initiative, organizers aim to give Moroccan students greater exposure to international opportunities while further bolstering the long‑standing ties between Rabat and Washington.
