US press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters yesterday that discussions about a second round of talks with the Iranians were ongoing and productive.
Speaking at a White House press briefing, Leavitt said any fresh talks would likely be in Pakistan again as it has emerged as the "only mediator" in the effort to end the war. A key Pakistani mediator in Tehran and the administration also talked up hopes for a deal that would open the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
Hope grew on another front as well, with Israel's cabinet meeting on Wednesday to discuss a possible ceasefire in Lebanon, according to a senior Israeli official said. According to Lebanese officials, a ceasefire could be announced soon, the Financial Times reported.
Meanwhile in UAE, schools, parents and staff are gearing up for a return to in-person education, after weeks of distance learning.
