UAE schools reopen today; ships pass through Strait of Hormuz over weekend
Day 13 of ceasefire
As we near the end of the fragile ceasefire between US and Iran, marked by clashes over the Strait of Hormuz, a lasting peace remains in question. Both Washington and Tehran seem to disagree fundamentally on the Strait of Hormuz as well as Iran's nuclear programme.
Hopes for talks mediated by Pakistan have swindled as Iran's IRNA news agency reported last night that the Islamic Republic would not be heading to Islamabad for the negotiations.
While it is unclear whether the Strait of Hormuz is completely open, shipping data shows that over 20 vessels passed through the vital chokepoint over the weekend.
Meanwhile, here in the UAE, life is going back to normal. Students across the country are heading back into school campuses today, supported by a strict protocol of safety measures and rules.
Stay tuned to Khaleej Times as we bring you the latest local, regional and global updates during this crucial time.
