Two men are charged with multiple counts of rape after woman, 18, 'was attacked by strangers'

By WILL HALLOWELL, NEWS REPORTER Published: 21:31, 28 June 2026 | Updated: 21:31, 28 June 2026 Two men have been charged with multiple counts of rape after an 18-year-old woman was allegedly attacked on Wednesday.  The attack occurred between 1am and 3am at an address on Manners Road in Southsea, Hampshire.  Detectives launched an investigation after the victim was raped 'by two men she did not know', police have said.  Tony Goldsmith, 45, of Enfield, north London, and Bobby Watson, 46, of Waltham Abbey, Essex, have each been charged with three counts of rape.  The pair are remanded in custody and will appear in court on Monday.  Officers are continuing to investigate the 'full circumstances' surrounding the alleged attack.  A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: 'Two men have been charged with raping a woman in Southsea. 'Detectives launched an investigation following a report that an 18-year-old woman had been raped by two men she did not know on Wednesday 24 June. 'Officers have been carrying out thorough enquiries to establish the full circumstances and have now charged two men in connection with the incident. 'Tony Goldsmith, 45, of Gilbert Street in Enfield, has been charged with three counts of rape. 'Bobby Watson, 46, of Highbridge Street in Waltham Abbey, Essex, has been charged with three counts of rape. 'They have been remanded into custody and are due to appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on Monday 29 June.'  This is a breaking news story.
