Twins demote Royce Lewis to Triple A amid slump at plate: Sources

MINNEAPOLIS — Royce Lewis is indeed headed for a minor-league reset.The Minnesota Twins demoted their slumping slugger to Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday morning only five days after making a similar decision with Matt Wallner, multiple league sources told The Athletic.Lewis striking out a career-high 31.1 percent of the time and batting only .163/.261/.279 with three home runs and 13 RBIs after 119 plate appearances. His struggles have been pronounced since returning from an injured list-stint on April 21, with 25 strikeouts in 74 plate appearances and a .380 OPS.After working to adjust his swing in the offseason, Lewis got off to a decent start, producing an .822 OPS through his first dozen games played. Lewis was walking more than ever and hitting for some power. But Lewis has been out of sorts since he sprained his knee in early April.
