“Who do you think you are?” the journalist said, addressing the US president
American journalist Tucker Carlson has accused President Donald Trump of mocking Christians by issuing an expletive-laden threat to Iran at Easter.
On Sunday, Trump again demanded Tehran to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, which has remained effectively shut since the US-Israeli attack on Iran on February 28.
“Open the f**king strait, you crazy bastards, or you'll be living in hell. JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah,” the US leader wrote on his Truth Social platform, threatening to demolish Iranian power plants and bridges if it does not comply by Tuesday.
Responding on his show on Monday, Carlson said: “How dare you speak that way on Easter morning to the country. Who do you think you are? You’re tweeting out the F-word on Easter morning?”
By mentioning Allah, the US president is also “mocking the religion of Iran,” the journalist said. “OK, if you seek a religious war, that’s a good idea,” he added, sarcastically.
“This is a mockery, not just of Islam, it’s a mockery of Christianity to send out a tweet with the F-word on Easter morning, promising the murder of civilians and then saying praise be to Allah without explaining any of it,” Carlson insisted.
Iran’s parliament speaker, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, reacted to Trump’s obscene post by saying that he “won’t gain anything through war crimes.” The US president’s “reckless moves” could mean that “our whole region is going to burn,” he warned.
When asked by journalists about Trump’s rant on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that “we have seen those statements, but we prefer not to comment on them.” Russia has long warned about the “dangerous and very negative” consequences of attacking Iran, Peskov added.
Carlson, who has been generally supportive of Trump, came out as a harsh critic of the US-Israeli war on Iran, prompting the US president to claim last month that the journalist “has lost his way” and is no longer part of the MAGA movement.
