Trump unleashes 'Election Integrity Army' amid midterm panic after Susie Wiles dropped vote bombshell

By VICTORIA CHURCHILL, US POLITICAL REPORTER Published: 19:17, 11 May 2026 | Updated: 19:21, 11 May 2026 Donald Trump is raising an 'Election Integrity Army' to police the 2026 midterms, vowing it will be 'bigger and stronger' than the one he credits with delivering his 2024 victory.  The announcement comes days after White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles raised eyebrows by suggesting the country is about to learn Trump actually won states he lost in 2020. 'I think we are going to find out he actually did win,' Wiles told guests at the Independent Women's Forum gala in Washington on Thursday. Trump laid out the 2026 plan in a Sunday Truth Social post, stating that during his 2024 triumph 'the Republicans had an Election Integrity Army in every single State to preserve the sanctity of each legal vote.' Now, grassroots Republicans nationwide are making efforts to repeat that success by sending volunteers to silently observe voters to ensure legality at the ballot box. The RNC is also putting together a roster of lawyers to file day-of legal actions to ensure that election-day operations run smoothly. It comes amid GOP fears that Republicans could face a midterm bloodbath amid mounting frustration with Trump's Iran war, with gas prices rocketing by more than 50 percent to a nationwide average of $4.52 per gallon. Trump's approval stands at 37 percent and 59 percent disapproval, the lowest reading of his presidency according to a NPR/PBS News/Marist poll last week. Poll watchers are partisan volunteers credentialed by a party or campaign to observe voting on election day. They monitor check-in, ballot handling, drop boxes and the count, flagging anything they consider irregular to their party's legal team.  In many states they can formally challenge a voter's eligibility on the spot, which forces that person to cast a provisional ballot that may or may not ultimately be counted. Hurtt hosted a packed election integrity training in partnership with the RNC ahead of the 2024 election, drawing grassroots activists and local GOP leaders from across the commonwealth.   He added: 'Working alongside our partners at the Republican Party of Virginia and the Republican National Committee, this model has ensured election integrity at the local level, where elections play out.'  'It has been a primary focus of my committee for years and will continue to be a focus in the 2026 midterm elections and beyond,' he concluded. Chloe Anagnos Pierce, president of the Indiana Federation of Republican Women, told the Daily Mail: 'The RNC has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to election integrity in key states across the country.  A voter casts a ballot during early voting at a polling place on April 17, 2026 in Burke, Virginia 'I'm confident they'll continue that outstanding work in 2026 to help ensure every lawful vote is counted and every voice is heard,' she added.  Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has pledged that the Democrats are prepared to match the GOP's election integrity efforts. 'Donald Trump knows, his party knows, that they're at risk of losing this election in 2026, which is why they're working round the clock to tilt the scales unfairly in their favor,' Schumer said on the Senate floor late last month.
