Trump to review new Iran peace proposal; Tehran says 'prepared for both paths'

As the ceasefire enters Day 26, a fruitful round of negotiations between Iran and US are yet to happen. As the world awaits a peace agreement between the two rivals that will guarantee the permanent end of hostilities in the region, Iran submitted a fresh peace proposal on Saturday.

Iran's new proposal will be reviewed by US President Donald Trump. However, Trump said that he "can't imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to humanity, and the world, over the last 47 years."

The new proposal by Tehran includes 14 points, including ending the conflict on all fronts and enacting a new framework for the crucial Strait of Hormuz, as reported by Iran's Tasnim news agency.

Meanwhile, Iran's deputy foreign minister Kazem Gharibabadi earlier told diplomats in Tehran "the ball is in the United States' court to choose the path of diplomacy or the continuation of a confrontational approach."

Iran, he said, was "prepared for both paths."
