Trump Rejects Iran Ceasefire, Says US Is ‘Obliterating the Other Side’
Tantan – US President Donald Trump said he does not want a ceasefire with Iran as the war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran escalates across the region.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said, “You know you don’t do a ceasefire when you’re literally obliterating the other side.”
As he signaled a continued military approach, the US president also sharply criticized NATO allies, calling them “cowards” for not supporting Washington more strongly in the war. Trump even went as far as to describe the alliance as “a paper tiger” without American power backing it.
At the same time, Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei issued a defiant message, rejecting any immediate ceasefire. According to Iranian officials, Tehran is not interested in a US-imposed, short-lived ceasefire and is instead seeking a “complete, comprehensive and lasting end to the war.”
The war has expanded across multiple countries. Kuwait said yesterday its air defenses were intercepting “hostile missile and drone attacks,” while Saudi Arabia reported it had destroyed dozens of drones in its eastern region. Explosions and airstrikes were also reported in Tehran, Karaj, and Isfahan, as well as in parts of Iraq and Lebanon of Friday.
US-based rights monitoring group HRANA has reported more than 3,000 deaths in Iran since the start of the war, including civilians and children. Iran’s official Health Ministry puts the toll lower, at around 1,444 killed and over 18,000 injured.
The US Treasury Department also temporarily lifted sanctions on Iranian oil shipments already loaded on tankers for 30 days. Analysts say the move could allow Iran to sell oil in limited markets, despite ongoing sanctions pressure.
Meanwhile, reports indicated that Iranian missiles targeted US and UK military interests in the Indian Ocean, including the Diego Garcia base, though interception systems reportedly limited damage.
As the war continues to affect neighboring countries, NATO has withdrawn personnel from Iraq due to rising attacks on US-linked bases.
