Jean Carroll cannot receive the money until the Supreme Court rejects Trump's new petition, following the court's denial of his initial petition last month." Carroll sued Trump in 2022 for defamation and battery in a civil case, alleging that the President had sexually assaulted her in the spring of 1996 in a dressing room at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City.  Trump asked the Supreme Court to review another petition to reconsider his appeal in a separate court filing dated Monday. The case went to trial in New York, where a jury found Trump liable for the charges, awarding Carroll, second from left, $5 million in damages Carroll sued Trump in 2022 for defamation and battery in a civil case, alleging that the President had sexually assaulted her in the spring of 1996 in a dressing room at the Bergdorf Goodman department store in New York City
