By MATT JONES, SENIOR NEWS REPORTER, AUSTRALIA Published: 03:25, 3 July 2026 | Updated: 03:56, 3 July 2026 A handwritten note has been left at the scene where a teenager bled to death after allegedly being murdered in Melbourne. Darweish Mohamed was allegedly ambushed by a group of up to 14 youths after being challenged to a one-on-one fight outside Craigieburn Community Hospital on Lygon Drive on Wednesday evening. The 15-year-old was found face down on the pavement, bleeding heavily, with a hunting knife discovered nearby. A 16-year-old was arrested on Thursday and charged with murder. Flowers and a handwritten note have since been left at the scene in tribute to Darweish. 'When will these postcode wars end,' it read. 'Another senseless tragic life taken far too soon. RIP dude. Love and thoughts are with your family and friends.' Melbourne's postcode wars have fuelled a wave of violent clashes between rival youth gangs across the city's outer suburbs, with teenagers targeting rivals over territorial 'postcode beefs'. Flowers and a handwritten note have been left at the scene where 15-year-old Darweish Mohamed was allegedly stabbed to death. The note asked: 'When will these postcode wars end' Darweish Mohamed (pictured) was allegedly ambushed by a group of up to 14 youths after agreeing to a one-on-one fight outside Craigieburn Community Hospital on Wednesday evening According to Melbourne true crime website Outlaw Media, Darweish had arranged to meet the alleged killer for a one-on-one fight. 'Instead, he allegedly turned up with 13 other boys. The group then stabbed the 15-year-old to death,' reporter Ryan Naumenko said. 'What was meant to be a personal dispute ended in a frenzied knife attack. Multiple stab wounds. No chance for the victim against those numbers.' One of Darweish's friends said he had been at his house shortly before the alleged murder. 'Can't believe this, until we meet again,' he wrote. 'Crazy how fast things can happen.' Mohamed was a student at Craigieburn's Mount Ridley P–12 College. 'The death of the young person in a violent incident (on Wednesday) night will be extremely distressing for the local communities involved,' a Department of Education spokesman said. According to reports, the 15-year-old expected to meet one rival, but was allegedly confronted by a much larger group before he was fatally stabbed A GoFundMe appeal has raised more than $35,000 from almost 1,000 donors to help Darweish's family with funeral costs, with supporters saying: 'No family should ever have to go through a loss like this. 'The Department of Education will be providing support to impacted school communities.' Police have made multiple arrests as part of the investigation. The 16-year-old, from the Goulburn Valley region, has been charged with murder and remanded in custody to appear in a children's court at a later date. A 20-year-old man from Beveridge was charged with criminal damage by fire and bailed to appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates' Court at a later date. On Friday, police announced further arrests. A 15-year-old girl from the Fawkner area was arrested overnight and charged with affray and theft of a motor vehicle. She was bailed to appear in a children's court at a later date. Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy from Craigieburn was arrested on Friday morning and remains in custody for questioning. A GoFundMe page has been set up for Mohamed and, as of Friday morning, had raised more than $35,000 from almost 1,000 donations to help his family cover funeral costs. 'No family should ever have to go through a loss like this, and our hearts are with his loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,' the message on the page read.
