Tigers agree to eight-year, $150 million extension with rookie Kevin McGonigle

DETROIT — The Tigers have locked up the next face of their franchise, reaching an agreement Wednesday on an eight-year, $150 million contract extension with infielder Kevin McGonigle.McGonigle’s deal begins next season and will ensure he is under team control through 2034. The contract will cover McGonigle’s final five seasons of club control and add three additional seasons, meaning the  21-year-old should spend the bulk of his prime seasons in a Tigers uniform.Advertisement
