There was at least a 10-minute standoff before officers fatally shot the suspect, according to the sources.New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in post on X that she was briefed on the incident.“I’m grateful to our brave officers who acted quickly to stop the suspect,” the governor said. “We’re working closely with the NYPD as the investigation unfolds.”A spokesperson for New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani did not immediately return a request for comment.This is a developing story.
