This superyacht makes a splash! £220m mega-vessel with giant swimming pool on board for its 'keen swimmer' owner moors up off South Coast

Published: 16:45, 8 August 2026 | Updated: 16:56, 8 August 2026 A luxury yacht worth £220million that features an expansive swimming pool has moored up in an English south coast harbour.  The 300ft (89-metre) vessel called Milky Way journeyed from Holland where it was built, having been commissioned by a mystery billionaire.  The owner is described as a 'keen swimmer' hence the inclusion of the 55ft long pool on the main deck of the vessel. The yacht was launched in June and is understood to have been undergoing sea trials when it stopped off in the dock of Poole Harbour in Dorset. It then turned heads. It is the latest in a series of superyachts that moor in the Dorset harbour.  Poole has gained a reputation for hosting some of the world's most expensive yachts, enticing owners with its deep-water berths, security and close proximity to London. And has since been awarded five gold anchors, the prestigious global marina accreditation scheme managed by The Yacht Harbour Association (TYHA). Marinas are rated across categories such as ambience, customer service, on-water and onshore facilities and infrastructure. The 2,600 ton Milky Way is registered to the Cayman Islands. It is the second most popular flag state for superyachts with 1,607 registered.   Built by Dutch yard Feadship, the Milky Way features design by Feadship's Studio De Voogt for its exterior and British design house RWD for its interior.  Maarten Janssen, sales director at Dutch boatbuilders Feadship, said: '[Milky Way] reflects an intimately close collaboration between the private client and the unified project team. 'The client had a precise vision for a unique, full custom Feadship and we are extremely proud of the result.' It comes after Nautilus, a 239ft (73-metre) expedition yacht, moored in Poole Quay in June.  The yacht is owned by Thierry Stern, the president and CEO of luxury Swiss watch manufacturer Patek Philippe and is named after the company's Nautilus watch collection. It can be hired out at a starting price of £646,000 a week for a 'unique luxury experience'.
