The state is desperate for violence on the streets so it can impose total control, says Neil Oliver

The states of the West seem desperate for domestic violence. You can see it in bloody-minded agitation for open war with Russia, relentless stoking of the charnel house of Ukraine, not to mention complicity in the genocide in Gaza and the horrors meted out to the civilians of Lebanon.

But Western states seem to me every bit as eager for violence on the streets of home. I say desperation for violence might be explained on the grounds that without it, the dream of total control must remain out of reach. In order to get across the line with the bid for popular acceptance of the digital cage, which is to say, round the clock surveillance, a citizen's access to his own money made entirely dependent on that citizens behaviour being deemed acceptable to the state.

Willingness to say and think only what is acceptable to that state. Willingness to hand over our children to indoctrination in the name of state-sponsored education. Total submission to invasive medical procedures. Mislabeled vaccination. All of it. In order to set all that in place, I say the states of the West need violence. Bloody violence on the streets.

This week, we read the British state wants the power to control YouTube, to have prominence and preference accorded to state propaganda, so that users might face a struggle to avoid having that propaganda shoved down their throats. I say this is the tantrum of giant children driven out of control by not getting their own way, no matter how loud they shriek and drum their heels on the floor.

In Britain, where I live, I am asked all the time whether I think civil war is imminent. Revolution, a great and bloody civil war lit up by the flames of burning buildings and cars, rampaging mobs, people, as we say, taking the law into their own hands, whatever. This is the fantasy of the state. It seems to me the state absolutely requires the outbreak of real violence, of the sort I'm describing.

The state has been piling the necessary tender and combustible material for that conflagration for generations. Because unless and until the mob rises and the fires burn and the blood flows, and remember that the blood is always that of ordinary people and their homes and cars and businesses torched. Unless and until a spark ignites it all, the state is powerless to get what it really, really wants, which is total control.

If, and it's an enormous if, if the spark catches and the violence is unleashed and ordinary people are hurt and their property destroyed, if all that happens while the state watches and on a nationwide scale, then the state can do what it has been waiting to do for years, which is declare it has no option but to take all necessary measures to restore peace and safety.

This would be about the likes of martial law, curfews, and all the familiar rhetoric about applying the full force of the law in all its manifestations for the common good. It would also clear the way for the imposition of all the technological controls, just waiting for final activation.

For such draconian steps to play out, indeed, in order for the people actually to demand the actions described above, the draconian steps under the banner of safety and security, the violence would have to reach the point where that well-meaning populace is persuaded that only by surrendering the last of its freedoms can peace and safety be regained.

So I say again, it feels to me like the States of the West are moving heaven and earth to make violence inevitable. I see it as nothing less than existential for them at this point. For without the discharge of all the pent up energy they have stored in the population are done for. But what I predict is this - that the mass of the population, well aware that they are being played and manipulated, nudged towards a carefully set bear trap, well aware that this is what is being planned and stoked by nefarious and malevolent entities, that the mass of the population will frustrate the violence-dependent state by doing nothing of the sort.

I say this first and foremost, because all the evidence makes plain that the mass of people wants peace, not violence, the mass of people, God bless them, and given the choice votes every time for whomever promises peace, that those promising peace betray the people by getting into office and fomenting war over and over again is really neither here nor there.

The fact is that most people will, given the chance, opt for and hope for peace. Violence is the fantasy of the psychopathic mindset for which we have enabled the establishment of the necessary ecosystem, the ecosystem that has let them thrive and multiply. This much is on us. But another reason why I say the psychopaths will not get what they want is my certainty that those psychopaths are cowards. They fantasise about watching violence, about taking advantage of violence committed by someone else, but on a personal level as individuals, those cowards are the very last people who would ever get their hands wet with actual violence.

Those fantasising about violence and about the total control of populations are the most frightened and cowardly individuals the world has yet seen. It is their terror of their fellow human beings that drives their behavior, like arachnophobes, that are compelled to stamp on the smallest spider even when it poses them no threat whatsoever. The psychopaths I'm talking about are driven to the totalitarian mindset because of their blind terror.

Here's the thing, people like you and me are altogether different, and in ways the psychopaths cannot, absolutely cannot imagine. Their inability to see the world and fellow humankind as we do, might be visualised as follows. Imagine a torch instructed to inspect a darkened room in search of that darkness. Everywhere the torch looks everywhere, touched by its beam is brightly illuminated, so that the torch must draw the conclusion that the whole room is lit. Well, of course, the opposite is true.

But the rest of us, the most of us, are altogether different. Believe it or believe it not but I say J.R.R. Tolkien, who as a fighting soldier survived the First World War, another horror dreamt up and made real by more of the same psychopaths. But he was on to something profound when he had the hobbits save Middle-Earth. The hobbits were, for Tolkien, the embodiment of the English or perhaps the British people. Above all, they wanted peace and to be left in peace, to tend their gardens and their families. The great battles towards the end of the Lord of the Rings are just side shows that make no difference to the outcome.

The hobbits do what is needed, and so save the world by carrying a burden until such times as the evil finally destroys itself by its own nature. The evil is utterly confounded and then defeated by the peaceful persistence of the hobbits in the face of all adversity and hardship, in the face of all provocation. We as ordinary people are being ruthlessly provoked by cowardly psychopaths, fantasising about the vicarious thrill of watching other people running rampage. Their worldview is predicated now on ordinary people taking to the streets and spilling the blood of other ordinary people.

Unless and until that happens, the psychopaths cannot get where they need to be in order to survive. I say this because it is my opinion that the state here in Britain and elsewhere has crossed the Rubicon. There is no going back now for them. The absolutely perilous, indeed parlous nature of the position in which they have put themselves is made evident by the farce of the imminent coronation of Andy Burnham, newly minted MP for Makerfield, as leader of the Labour Party and so Prime Minister. It took his gormless predecessor, Keir Starmer, a couple of years to reach the bottom of the deep pit of national loathing. Burnham's bottom has not even touched the toilet seat, still warm from Starmer's cheeks, and already he is the spittoon for the nation's bile.

Everyone paying attention knows he comes only to press harder on the gas pedal, hurtling the vehicle towards a totalitarian police state. An action he performs on behalf of his masters. And all eyes are wide open to watch his hapless antics in thrall to the puppet masters. All that is laid bare, the cynical destruction of communities driven by replacement immigration, the attack on family values, on traditional morality, on perceptions of indigenous history and culture, the state complicity in genocide, the proliferation of propaganda in desperate bids to foment anti-Russia and anti-Iran hysteria, the seeming promise of perpetual war.

Regardless, all of it choreographed and driven by psychopaths who would see blood and fire in the streets. But I say those psychopaths will fail in the end, because ultimately, and most importantly, they fail to understand what it truly means to be human and alive. While their fantasies are forever war, everyone at everyone else's throats on the grounds of cynically stoked racial and religious strife. While they dream of a world in which they have everything and we have nothing, a world upon which they squat like the misshapen of cuckoos in the nest in which they have absolute life and death power over all.

While they dream of all that, I say they will not ever make that dream real, because I say they will be undone in the end by the true nature of regular, decent people, of every colour and creed who want peace, who would live and let live. The state is desperate for the final acts of massive violence it thinks will deliver it, the world and everyone in it. I say all we have to do is deny them by being what we really are and what we have always been our decent, regular, peace-loving selves.
