Tesco is marking Armed Forces Day this weekend by providing complimentary hot breakfasts to military personnel and veterans at cafés across Britain.

The supermarket giant will offer the free meals at 335 of its stores nationwide on Sunday, June 28.

Both current service members and those who have previously served in the Armed Forces are eligible for the gesture of appreciation.

The initiative covers approximately 159,000 regular personnel and 32,000 reservists currently serving in the military.

Ashwin Prasad, Tesco UK CEO and Exec Sponsor of the Armed Forces Network, expressed the company's enthusiasm for the initiative.

"Tesco has a long association with the Armed Forces and we are proud to be the leading private sector employer of veterans in the UK, which we support through our thriving Armed Forces network," he said.

Mr Prasad emphasised that the breakfast offer represents a meaningful way to honour those in uniform.

"This Armed Forces Day, we are recognising those who serve and have served. Everyone loves a free breakfast and it's a nice way of thanking them for their service," he added.

Sabrina Lungo, Chair of the Armed Forces Network at Tesco, said: "We take great pride in our connection with the Armed Forces and offering this small token of appreciation on Armed Forces Day, is just one way that we’re helping and recognising serving personnel and veterans.

"In 2025, we reconfirmed our commitment to the Armed Forces Community through re-signing the Armed Forces Covenant and launching our three-year partnership with Help for Heroes, to support not our only veterans at Tesco but the wider community."

All serving Armed Forces personnel can present their MOD90 identification card at The Café at Tesco in order to claim the offer.

The deal allows personel to get a Breakfast, Veggie Breakfast, Vegan Breakfast, Sausage Bap, Egg Bap, Veggie Bap or the Bacon Bap for free.

Also marking the day is Greater Manchester's Bee Network, which is offering free public transport across the region.

Members of the Regular and Reserve Services carrying their MOD90 card, veterans who carry their Veterans’ badge or Veteran’s rail card and cadets travelling in uniform can travel on the Bee Network bus and Metrolink services for free over the weekend.

Chief Network Officer at TfGM Danny Vaughan said: "The Armed Forces community makes an invaluable contribution to our society, and we’re proud to show our appreciation with free travel across the Bee Network on Armed Forces Day.

"It’s an important opportunity for people across Greater Manchester to come together and recognise the service and sacrifice of those who serve, or have served, along with their families.

"Supporting the Armed Forces Covenant is something we take very seriously, and we’re committed to doing our part to make Greater Manchester an Armed Forces-friendly city-region."
